100WC – Week #4 – Bayley

I was exploring the outback like every summer. But this summer was different. I’ve seen the river bed dry. but I have never seen the river bed this dry. I thought that if the animals didn’t have the water to drink they would die so as fast as I could. I went to the nearest village and got lots of buckets of water then went to the water hole and tipped all the water in. When I had tipped all of the buckets in it had all disappeared but there were no cracks in the dirt. What will I do?

  1. Wow. I can tell from the tone of your story that your character is very worried, but I’m not sure what it was they saw between the usual dry river bed and this dry river bed. That extra information could help your reader understand why the character was so concerned for the animals. Some of the added concern starts to become clear when the first attempt to help the animals failed and ‘all’ the water disappeared. The open eneded ending is an interesting choice, as it makes your reader wonder what they would do. I hope you have an idea… because now I’m worrying for the animals in your story.
