The pounding of footsteps vibrated off the stone walls. The only light source came from a flickering torch on the wall; the embers were dying. The deafening beating noise matched the furious way my heart was pounding. A dreadful feeling that the fire was about to crumble into ash appeared. I swiped the torch out of the holder on the wall. “YOU CAN’T HIDE FOREVER!” a furious voice screamed. I jumped backwards, shocked. Then, suddenly, darkness enveloped the room. The sudden move had snuffed out the fire. All the light had drained from the room, along with my last hope.
